This is a full time position within the hospital laboratory. The secretary will be the initial point of contact for all received specimens from clinic sources. The secretary will assist as needed and if not already certified in phlebotomy be willing to be trained. The secretary must have the ability to maintain organization in a very busy, high complexity lab that serves clinics, inpatient and outpatient services. The secretary must be willing to assist as education level allows. The lab secretary will be responsible for verification that all lab samples are correctly labeled and each patient registered correctly in the system. The lab secretary will assist the medical offices in retrieving results and following up on labs that have to be sent out to further reference laboratories for processing.
