  10. Communicates directly with Manager of Emergency Preparedness, CNO, and CEO regarding imminent adverse weather conditions, transfers from other hospitals due to pandemic, diversion guidelines, and other situations which may arise during shift.
  11. Additions or changes to the ‘House Supervisor’ job description and responsibilities may be updated at any time per the recommendations of the Clinical Nurse Manager, CNO or CEO. Any changes will be immediately relayed to the Supervisor.

The Registered Nurse will provide or supervise skilled nursing service in accordance with physician’s orders.  The RN makes the initial evaluation visit, regularly re-evaluates the patient’s nursing needs, initiates the plan of treatment and necessary revisions, provides those services requiring substantial specialized nursing skill, initiates appropriate and rehabilitative nursing procedures, prepares clinical and progress notes, coordinates services, informs the physician and other personnel of changes in the patient’s condition and needs, counsels the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs, participates in in-service education programs in accordance with the Board of Nursing requirements for re-licensure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Required to maintain a current Registered Nurse license in Louisiana.
  3. Required to maintain a current certification in BLS and CPI. ACLS and PALS preferred but not required.  If certification is not current upon hire, employee will attend class within six months of hire date to obtain certification.

Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Recognizes life threatening arrhythmias and reports to the appropriate department STAT.
  • Maintains visual check of monitors.
  • Maintains log of patients being monitoring.
  • Provides accurate information in and informative manner respecting patient’s rights.
  • Interprets basic ECG strips for rate & rhythm.
  • Troubleshoots & collaborates with Biomed/nurses for GE telemetry problems.
  • Recognizes artifact & troubleshoots effectively.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
